Carlsbad beaches are a year-round favorite for local residents, vacationers, surfers, body-boarders and photographers. In the water and on the waves you are likely to see surfers paddling out to where the waves break, while on the sand you’ll find creators of sand castles, beach volleyball, flying frisbees, hiking beachcombers, and sunbathers lying on mats and towels–often under the shade of brightly-colored beach umbrellas. In the distance, sailboats glide along the horizon.
The two main beaches in Carlsbad are Carlsbad State Beach, known by locals as Tamarack State Beach, and South Carlsbad State Beach which also allows for camping (if reservations are made a century in advance:-)
Surfers and fishermen may want to consult the San Diego Tide Chart offered by LaJollaSurf.org while Carlsbad beach campers may want to make camping reservations via the California State Parks site. It is also interesting to note that the South Carlsbad State Beach also offers Wi-Fi service if you are within a 150-foot range of the Lifeguard Headquarters located in the Park. You may also call 800-444-PARK for additional camping information.
San Diego sunsets can cause your heart to skip a beat, and Carlsbad is no exception. We’ve had clients keep entire photos albums dedicated to beach sunsets which which can be especially spectacular on cloudy days. Each day at the beach ends with its own colors and special farewell.
