I love the rich smell of coffee beans and their brew–and the hissing sounds of expresso machines at work.

And what could be more fun than meeting a friend, finding a free table and spending a half hour or so catching up on the details of life.

Carlsbad is fortunate to have so many wonderful places to stop for a latte, double expresso or chai tea. And though many restaurants and bakeries also serve excellent coffee, this report is dedicated to those whose business is built on the bean:
